Join the cycling experience of a lifetime, September 12-17, 2010
The Pfizer People’s Coast Classic bicycle tour is a six-day charity event benefiting the Arthritis Foundation’s mission to improve lives through prevention, control and cure of arthritis. Starting at the mouth of the Columbia River and snaking down the temperate Oregon Coast to Brookings, this ride combines cycling and adventure against the backdrop of the sun setting into the Pacific Ocean. Your vacation with a cause will touch the lives of over 46.4 million people in the United States, including 300,000 children living with Juvenile Arthritis.
Each day’s leisurely route of 50-70 miles can be done at your own pace, with rest stops and activities along the way. Dinner and overnight camping is included at overnight stops in quaint coastal communities.

Our coast is your coast
The beaches along the Oregon Coast were first protected for public use by Governor Oswald West (in office 1911-15). In 1967 Governor Tom McCall (in office 1967-75) assisted in the passage of the Oregon Beach Bill to maintain West’s vision in keeping Oregon’s beaches open to the public. The Oregon Beach Bill decreed that all land within sixteen vertical feet of the average low tide mark belongs to the people of Oregon and guarantees that the public has free and uninterrupted use of the beaches along Oregon’s 363 miles of coastline. A state easement exists up to the line of vegetation.
